The Tortoise & Ladybug

He sits atop the old tool chest, near the carousel motor.  Ask the operator to help if you’d like to take a photo with him!

Scott’s smallest carving, Ms. Ladybug, is now on display in her toasty warm home above our radiant heat display, perched on a leaf.

As Scott was finishing up tortoise, he remembered his good friend, George Blevins (our local cartoonist), wrote a story called “Mr. Turtle meets Ms. Ladybug.” And Scott decided he needed to carve a little ladybug.

This short story is available for purchase in our gift shop or online, along with several other books by George Blevins.  It is a creative and heartwarming story about friendship, and “…learning that good friends never really go away. Part of them moves in.”

The dragonfly on tortoise’s shell was made with the members of Warrior Story Field, who joined us for our Animals After Dark Gala back in November.
