November 11 – Veteran’s Day – Join us for Animals After Dark!

Join us for a night out with all the animals of the Carousel!  This year, on Veteran’s Day November 11, we are hosting our annual fundraiser gala, Animals After Dark. The night will focus on supporting the maintenance program for our carousel.  Dinner will be served at 7:00pm, and a live auction will occur at 7:30pm, with a silent auction available to browse from 6:30pm to 9pm.  We’ll end the night with dessert and live music, and of course we’ll take a few spins on the carousel!

Darryl Purpose is an American folk singer and songwriter.  He loves the Carousel of Happiness, and wrote “Next Time Around,” a track available for purchase in the carousel gift shop.  Concert-only tickets are available.

This year, we celebrate the carousel on Veteran’s Day.  In honor of our history here at the Carousel of Happiness, we decided to invite another great nonprofit to join our event, and if you haven’t heard about them yet, please go check out their website! www.warriorstoryfield.org

Warrior StoryField is more than an art project, and is building community and healing through their work.

“The WSF project is a collaborative public art sculpture examining the transition from warrior to veteran participating in civilian life, and when complete, the work will be on permanent display in a local Colorado park. There’s a 16-foot-tall dragon representing the fierce warrior and an 18-foot-tall phoenix, a bird of rebirth, symbolizing the men and women who return home from war, fundamentally changed on the battlefield and seeking restoration. Locked in an eternal stare down, the space between the two mythological creatures is the “story field” that represents the soul.”
(from the article Healing the invisible wounds of war. It’s an inside job.  by Ann Thompson)

We will be making a donation from the Carousel to Warrior StoryField, and we are asking you to join us!  There is an option when you register to give $25, or whatever amount you feel encouraged to give!

They also make beautiful metal butterflies to support their cause, and we’ll have a few to auction off at the event.
